Welcome to our new Friends of Meriton Road Park site. Click on the links above to find out more about us and the work we do.
We welcome comments that will help us to learn more about how we can co-create a remarkable future for our much loved park.
We are working hard to create a better space for us all to enjoy: a place to relax, exercise, play, learn and grow. We treasure our park and all it can offer to everyone in our community and our visitors.
Do you have a vision for how you would like our local park to better meet the needs of your family and community as a whole?
Take a look at this presentation to gain insight into some of the projects we are considering. Submit your comments and own ideas by using the comment facility below (please note these are moderated to prevent abusive and inappropriate postings and spam).
A future connected to nature and history: the park could become a centre for a local nature and heritage trail linking to our beautiful rural outskirts and fascinating local heritage. What's your view?
The children's play area has been given considerable attention in recent years. There's still room for improvement. What's your view?
We look forward to hearing from you and to your contribution to creating a remarkable park. We welcome support in all its forms. Posting a helpful comment on this site will be a contribution. You may also wish to attend our monthly meetings or pop by to an organised event in the park e.g. bulb planting; play days etc. Look out for news about forthcoming events here and on the notice board at the entrance of the park.
The Rotary Club of Wilmslow Dean have contacted us to ask if any of our group members would be able to assist them with their Christmas collections on Saturday 18th December and Sunday 19th December at Wilmslow Garden Centre. They have said they would make a donation to our group funds if we can assist them so if anyone is available for a couple of hours on those dates please contact Mike Ramsden on 01625 535580.
We have been saddened recently when, last Saturday evening, the special picnic bench for the disabled and the park bench next to the pavilion were set alight and destroyed. It is very upsetting to see these new and much used facilities destroyed but we will work hard to fund raise to try and replace them. If anyone sees anyone causing damage in the park please report them to the police and if anyone sees any fires phone the fire service straight away.
The meeting on Monday 6th December has been cancelled due to concerns about the weather and icy conditions. The next meeting will be on Monday 10th of January at St. Chad’s Church coffee lounge.
Wishing you all the best for the festive season and many enjoyable wintery days in the park 🙂
